It is been my honor and privilege to serve our community on the Wake County Board of Commissioners. I ran in 2012 to be a sensible, practical voice on our board—the voice of a mother with two kids in public schools, the voice of an advocate for children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental illness and the voice of someone who loves our community and wants her children to want to stay here when they grow up. I believe that we have accomplished a great deal but we have so much more to do. Wake County is consistently rated as one of the best places to live and work in the country. But with all of the accolades and “best places” lists come challenges. Growth is one of the most important issues facing Wake County today. With a net gain of 63 new residents per day we must focus on balancing the needs of a growing community with keeping our quality of life strong.

Continuing to invest in our community and our people is not only the right thing to do, it is critical to growing our economy, attracting jobs and enhancing our quality of life.

As a member of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, I am a forward-thinking, prudent leader committed to putting solutions first—now and for our future.
